What's New in Flu Webinar

Associate Professor Amy Chan facilitates this webinar and begins by discussing the public health impact and economic cost of influenza. She also looks at what has changed since the COVID-19 pandemic. Professor Tino Schwarz takes a more global view and presents real-world data showing the efficacy advantages of cell-based vaccines over traditional egg-based vaccines which forward the argument that adding cell-based vaccines to public health programmes could represent an opportunity to improve influenza protection. Dr Natalie Netzler then presents why adjuvanted vaccines benefit those aged over 50 and looks at the composition of vaccines for the 2026 flu season. She reviews what recommendations The World Health Organisation have made for 2026 including why there has been a move from recommending the manufacture of quadrivalent vaccines to trivalent vaccines.

A practical guide to discussing advanced flu vaccines with patients.

Australian GP, Dr Sarah Chu discusses the burden of influenza and the vaccination environment in Australia with parallels to New Zealand.  Pharmacist at Life Pharmacy, Eastridge, Krenare Pireva talks about the growing vaccination role of pharmacy and Community Nurse Prescriber, Vicky Andrews gives us her perspective on vaccinating older patients with FLUAD® Quad and how they are gearing up for the arrival of Flucelvax® Quad this year.

The role of observational real world data with relevance to influenza with a focus on Flucelvax Quad.

Presentations from Dr Janine Paynter on real world or observational studies of vaccines and Professor Tino Schwarz on the clinical benefits of a cell-based influenza vaccine and his experience using Flucelvax® Quad.

All Things Influenza

Research Review educational series

This review summarises influenza prevention and control in the context of the attenuating effects of ageing on immunity and immune response to vaccination and discusses the history and role of adjuvants in vaccine technology, with emphasis on the use of the MF59-adjuvanted vaccine to increase influenza protection in older adults
